Dr. Michael Gustafson

Dr. Mike Gustafson is a graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic located in Chesterfield, MO. He completed his undergraduate coursework in biochemistry at the University of Toledo. While attending Logan College he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences, as well as his Doctorate of Chiropractic degree and was nominated for Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges.

While attending Chiropractic School he had the opportunity to work in a Sports & Rehabilitation internship where he was responsible for treating collegiate athletes at the University of Missouri, Missouri Baptist University, and Lindenwood University. He also had the pleasure of treating retired and current veterans at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Dr. Gustafson grew up in Conneaut, OH. He attended Conneaut High School and was active in athletics and lettered in soccer, basketball, and tennis. He was active in his community where he donated his time to teach basketball camps, coach his younger sister’s little league basketball team, and referee little league soccer.

Dr. Gustafson has recently moved to the Columbus area and is excited to join the team at Chiropractic and Physical Therapy Centers of Ohio. Dr. Gustafson is a member of the American Chiropractic Association and enjoys treating patients of all ages. He loves to educate patients on the benefits of Chiropractic, nutrition, exercise and living a healthier, drug-free life. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his friends and family, traveling, running, and watching basketball and hockey.

Dr. R. Timothy Richards

Dr. Richards graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1994. He completed a three-year residency in Internal Medicine at Mount Carmel Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio where he was appointed Chief Medical Resident in his 3rd year.

He practiced internal medicine in a primary care setting for three years before returning to Mount Carmel as Director of the Medical House Physicians Program. After 12 years in this position, he transitioned to a private hospitalist group at Mount Carmel. Before his career in medicine Dr. Richards graduated from Bowling Green State University with a B.S. in Accounting and pursued a career in business working as a Medicaid Auditor for the State of Ohio as well as an administrator of a medical center. After 11 years in business, he made a life-changing decision to return to University to pursue a career in medicine.

Dr. Richards, a native of Massillon, Ohio, played football and ran track in high school and played football for one year in college. He well understands how musculoskeletal injuries, if left untreated, can adversely affect a person throughout their life.

Dr. Richards takes both a personal and professional interest in improving the quality of life of his patients. He lives in New Albany, Ohio with his wife Erin of 14 years and remains an avid runner and a Massillon Tigers fan to this day.

Kelli Shankster, NP

Kelli graduated from The Ohio State University with her Master of Science and Adult and Gerontology Nurse Practitioner degree in May 2014. She also received her Bachelor of Science in Human Ecology from The Ohio State University with a focus in human nutrition and community health. Kelli has been a registered nurse for two years and has previously worked as a cardiology nurse practitioner.

Born and raised in Northwest Ohio, Kelli attended Bryan High School before moving to Columbus in 2007 to attend The Ohio State University. Kelli continues to reside in Columbus. Over the past few years, she has been actively involved in the Columbus community as a two-time rider and volunteer with Pelotonia. In her spare time, she enjoys biking, cooking, traveling and attending Ohio State football games.

Kelli is passionate about working with the physician, chiropractors and physical therapy team at Buckeye Physical Medicine and Rehab to improve the quality of life for our patients.

Aaron Jones, LMT

Aaron Jones is a graduate of Heritage College in Columbus Ohio. Proudly he earned the Director’s Award, the highest honor bestowed upon students by Heritage College. Following graduation Aaron passed the board examinations to become a Licensed Massage Therapist. He continued to educate himself after accepting a position with a Chiropractic practice in Clintonville, where he worked closely with the doctor to learn various techniques.

Aaron is a native of the great state of Michigan, born in Wayne and a graduate of Wayne Memorial High School. Aaron enjoyed athletics in high school and continues to participate in his favorite sport of powerlifting. After high school, Aaron excelled and set a powerlifting record at a local meet held at the Ohio State Fair. Two years later he would return to break his record. He has been honored on two occasions to appear in powerlifting magazines, however, after his last meet, he sustained injuries taking him out of competition.

Aaron has never taken his focus off of being a good therapist and has taken advantage each and every opportunity to learn something new while determining its best application. Currently Aaron is a resident of Columbus where he and his wife are raising two beautiful children.

Casey Valentine

Casey is a graduate of the Louisville High School Class of 2008. After waiting on the wait-list for 3 years she received a Degree in Science and one in the PTA program at Stark State College in North Canton, Ohio graduating in May 2015. A wonderful experience she is thankful for is the amazing people she met and treated in completing her clinical rotations in a variety of diverse settings during her time in the program.

Casey has proudly joined our team at Buckeye PMR at the Heath location and is currently advancing her knowledge and using her current skills in all aspects of outpatient therapy. She truly enjoys seeing patients improve their health and to reach their desired health goals.
